Islamabad Hundreds of protesting lady health workers (LHWs) Monday faced action at the hands of Islamabad Police when they were trying to go to the Supreme Court of Pakistan to submit a request for taking suo moto notice against the concerned authorities for creating unrest among them. When the protesting LHWs reached the police barrier near Nadra Headquarters, a heavy contingent of police, including a squad of female commandoes, pushed the participants of the rally back. During scuffle with police, some unpleasant scenes were witnessed.

Karachi The business community has announced that it will observe a shutter-down strike in the city on Saturday against the increasing harassment of the traders by the criminals demanding extortion money. The strike call was given by the All Karachi Tajir Ittehad (AKTI) — a representative body of small traders of the city — and supported by the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). Meanwhile, the MQM also announced that it would hold a peaceful protest across Sindh on Saturday against the partisan and autocratic attitude of the PPP MPAs in the Sindh Assembly on Friday.
