PPP rallies on The Mall in support of Asif, Gilani

LAHORE   Thousands of PPP activists from Lahore and other districts of the central Punjab staged a rally on Sunday in support of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Gilani besides and vowed to foil any conspiracy against democracy.   The rally started from The Mall, near the Lahore Museum and concluded outside the Data Darbar. It had a massive participation of the PPP workers who chanted slogans in support of the party leadership

KP Assembly seeks induction of members from Fata agencies

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution asking the federal government to give representation to the residents of Fata in the provincial assembly as per consent of the tribal people.   Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights Arshad Abdullah moved the resolution in which he suggested to the government to treat the Fata inhabitants like it treated other citizens of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, abolish the newly constituted Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) Tribunal and establish a proper judicial forum.   The resolution also demanded deletion of clause (7) of Article 247 of the Constitution for being in violation of fundamental rights of tribal people and extension of the jurisdiction of the Supreme and high courts to the region.

Two PPP men, cop among seven shot dead

Karachi   Seven people, including two activists of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and a policeman, were killed as target killings resumed in the city on Saturday, a day after a weeklong operation was halted in Lyari.   Late on Saturday night, gunmen shot dead Assistant Sub-Inspector Aslam Qadri in the Mobina Town police remit, and wounded two policemen in the Aziz Bhatti police limits in separate attacks

Picnic party for schoolchildren

Karachi :  : Pakistan Red Crescent Society in collaboration with Karachi Port Trust arranged a picnic party for more than 150 different schoolchildren of the city from KPT to Ketty Bandar by ferry here on Saturday. Vice President of PRCS Sindh Yasin Malik on the occasion said: “Children are our future and we want to provide better facilities to them”. Secretary PRCS Sindh Branch Kanwar Waseem said they arranged such activities and programs to raise awareness.

PML-N launches anti-government agitation

SWABI: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Friday launched its agitation against the Pakistan People’s Party-led coalition government from Swabi district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.   PML-N central vice-president Amir Muqam, General Secretary Capt (R) Safdar, provincial President Pir Sabir Shah, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Farid Toofan, Sarzameen Khan, PML-N Swabi chapter President Iftikhar Ahmad Khan and Liaqat Ahmad Khan attended the first protest meeting and made speeches.

Only six of 30 killed in Lyari were criminals

KP Assembly all set to pass resolution in favour of PM today
