Security firm found arming criminals

Karachi   The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) arrested four security guards in Orangi Town on Thursday for allegedly possessing and supplying illegal arms to criminals, as well as for committee bank heists.   A police team also recovered illegal weapons, including 15 repeaters, three 7MM rifles, two pistols and a number of live bullets, from their possession during a raid.SSP SIU Khurram Waris told journalists at a press briefing that Shamwill Security Company for which the four guards worked used to employ untrained people and supplied illegal weapons to criminals.   Acting on a tip-off, the raided a branch of the security company near Banaras Colony, and arrested Mohammad Farooq, Shameem Anwer, Mohammad Anwer and Mohammad Iqbal.SSP Waris alleged that the private security guards – who were actually a washerman, a cobbler, a barber and a mechanic and were hired by the company on a salary or Rs6,000 each — had been involved in bank robberies and other crimes.

Eight killed, over 15 injured in Lyari violence

Karachi,  At least eight persons were killed and over 15 injured including Naeem Lahoti, wanted to police in various cases and Malik Mushtaq, brother of former Nazim Malik Muhammad Khan, as unrest restarted in Lyari on Friday after targeted operation was carried out by Crime Investigation Department (CID) police to apprehend criminals and restore peace in the area. The operation, assisted by Frontier Constabulary, started at around five in the morning.

Suspected Lyari gangster arrested by SIU

Posted about 3 mins ago | KARACHI :   Three suspects were apprehended including a dangerous criminal allegedly involved in Lyari Gang War by Special Investigation Unit (SIU), which recovered arms and ammunition from their possession on Saturday. The unit conducted a raid in Maripur and arrested Safeer S/O Muhammad Hussain while recovered a pistol from his possession. He was allegedly a key member of Rashid Raikha Group while he had also worked with Baba Ladla Gang in 2007.

Over 100 female robbers active in Karachi South District, SIT submits report to police authorities, influential women exerting pressure on police

Karachi, The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Karachi police has detected a gang of women involved in committing house robberies in the city, especially in South district. The modus operandi of the ladies  criminal gang is to seek job at bungalows as maid and then commit theft or robbery. In-charge SIT, Saddar Division, Sub Inspector Muneer Hussain Chandio in a report submitted to SP, Saddar Division and other senior officers, disclosed that 42 FIRs registered in 2011 at six police stations of District South  namely Defence, Cklifton, Darakhshan, Boat Basin, Frere and Gizri show that all the accused were women.

Ex-Malir Bar President, his son gunned down

Karachi :   Ex-president of Malir Bar Association Salahuddin and his lawyer son were shot dead by unidentified assailants at Bakra Pirri, Gaziabad Malir area of Karachi early Saturday, police said. Salahuddin and his son Ali Hyder were severely injured when unidentified gunmen opened indiscriminate fire on their car while heading towards Malir court in the limits of Malir City police station. The policemen standing there took them to nearby Edhi Centre by rickshaw and then the ambulance rushed them to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre but they could not survive and succumbed to their injuries on the way to hospital

Four prisoners escape from lockup

Islamabad   Four inmates, allegedly involved in carjacking cases, escaped after breaking the lockup of Koral Police Station in the wee hours of Friday, police sources said. Police have registered a case against five police officials for their negligence, alleging that they helped prisoners in their escape, sources said.   Sources said that four men, identified as Shah Wali, Noor Rehman, Jahan Khan and Razzaq Khan, were arrested by the Koral Police on the allegation of car thefts and obtained a three-day physical remand from the court of law for further investigation and locked them in the police station’s lockup

Three cops killed within an hour

Even the law enforcers in the city are not safe from robbers, as three policemen were gunned down within an hour in separate incidents in the city on Tuesday, with investigators suspecting robbers behind the killings in at least two cases. AIG announces reward for cop who foiled bank robbery

Karachi,  Additional Inspector General (AIG) Police, Karachi Akhtar Hussain Ghorchani while announcing reward for constable who foiled bank robbery bid at Nazimabad number 2 said other personnel would also be rewarded to encourage them for their good performance so that they fight against crimes with a spirit. This he said addressing a press conference at Central Police Office on Monday where the constable Rahim Bakhsh who foiled the bank robbery attempt the same day. AIG announced to promote him as head constable besides cash prize of fifty thousand rupees and admiration certificate over his courageous act.
