KARACHI: The government borrowing to finance budget deficit has surpassed Rs1.01 trillion by the week ended April 6, up by 142.5 percent against Rs418 billion in the corresponding week last year, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said on Tuesday. The government, which is facing lower revenue collection and huge expenditures, further burdened the financial institutions by taking another Rs32 billion during March 30-April 6 to finance the budget deficit, according to the provisional data of SBP revealed. The central bank in a report feared that the fiscal deficit would further widen in the last quarter, indicating more government borrowing from the financial system
