Pakistan, India urged to learn from Franco-German reconciliation

Karachi :   European Union is a result of gigantic human and intellectual endeavors which transformed a blood-ridden continent into a land of peace and growth,  said Christian Ramage, the French consul general in Karachi. Speaking at a seminar on Vision for a Common European Home: French perspective , organized by the Area Study Centre of Europe, University of Karachi on the occasion of Europe Day, he said that philosophical influences have also been important in shaping the political contours of the European continent. He said that dictatorships and monarchies in Europe impeded the way for greater cooperation among European countries

Karachi, Mumbai bourses to sign agreement for cross-border listing

LAHORE: Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Chairman Muhammad Ali has said that the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) and the Mumbai stock exchange are going to sign an agreement for cross border listing of the capital markets scrips within a month.   Talking to The News at the sideline of the concluding day of ‘Dividends’, a two-day Indo-Pak Economic Conference, Ali said that huge investment potential existed across the border.

Allied hospitals received 93 cases in 2012, two died

The three allied hospitals in town have received as many as 93 patients during last four months who have had organophosphate poisoning, a chemical mainly used in tablets for killing rats, as the toxic chemical is openly available in almost all markets of the district.   The organophosphate poisoning is considered as one of the most common poisoning, particularly in rural areas of the country. However the concerned government authorities have done nothing to check open sale of highly toxic and dangerous chemicals, including acids, bleach, organophosphate and wheat pills.

Efficient use of human resource in police urged

The meeting reviewed the ongoing investigation in different high-profile crime cases, particularly bank robberies. I am one of top international players: Farhan Mehoob

Karachi :   In spite of being ranked lowly at 77th spot in the world circuit, Pakistani squash player Farhan Mehboob believes that he has potential of easily making it to elite World Top 20 list if he appears more in international tournaments as his international counterparts do. 23-year-old Farhan Mehboob, who reached career best rankings at No 16 in May 2009, believes that his game has not in any way declined but the reason he now holds lowly 77th spot currently is because of lack of exposure in international tournaments. International Federation of Air Line Pilots Association concerned on Pakistan aviation safety

Karachi :   International Federation of Air Line Pilots Association IFALPA expressed concerns on aviation safety in Pakistan and asked the country’s President to establish independent National Transportation Safety Board NTSB for thorough, scientific and unbiased investigations into air accidents.
